Parker Sprengeler will be graduating with the Class of 2025! He plans to attend a four-year university in the fall. His favorite high school memory was going to state football this past year. His favorite teacher was Mr. Degler. Parker’s advice for underclassmen is, “High school flies by so live in the present.”

Today preschool and kindergarten classes came together and read the a story called The Dot which is about the beginning of creativity and the courage to try something new. Kindergarteners had the opportunity to tell preschoolers what kinder will be like!

Check out a few of the looks we saw during Snow Week at the Secondary School!

Central Public Schools would like to celebrate the retirement of a fixture of our district for decades, Sixth Grade Teacher Jodi Curson! We asked her to share a few highlights and proud moments:
"I’ve had the privilege of teaching at Central for 33 years, all of them in sixth grade. I’m proud to call this community my home, both as a resident and as an educator. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of watching former students grow into amazing adults, friends, and even colleagues. It’s been incredibly rewarding to give back to my school through my involvement in various clubs and committees, but what I hold most dear is the opportunity to teach my own children here at Central. I am deeply grateful to all the incredible co-workers, administrators, custodians, secretaries, and support staff who have helped me grow as a teacher, a parent, and a friend. Thank you, Central, for everything!"
Congratulations Jodi!

We’re proud to celebrate Ben Schefers in today’s senior spotlight! Ben will be attending the College of St. Scholastica to study mathematics/business and play baseball. His favorite teacher was Mrs. Hammers. Ben’s favorite high school memory was being on the MRC championship baseball teams in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and his favorite year was 2023 when the team was 12-0 in conference play. His advice for younger students is to work hard!

Yesterday in Mrs Hammers' psychology class, students explored the fascinating world of sensory perception! They put their senses to the test with blind touch and tasting stations, challenging their ability to identify objects and flavors without sight. Then, they experienced altered perception goggles, which totally threw off their coordination and depth perception—talk about a reality check!

There was a whole lot of love around the secondary school on Valentine’s Day!

We had four students participate in the Dorian Honor Band Festival this past Sunday and Monday at Luther College in Iowa . Congratulations to Lacey, Zach, and Michael who played in the Mass Band, and to Isabella who played in the Symphonic Band! They spent Sunday afternoon and all of Monday rehearsing their pieces to perform Monday evening.

The Central Public Schools School Board interviewed the four candidates who applied to be considered for the open seat on the board on Monday, Feb. 24. The four applicants are Elroy Latzig, Barbara Woida, Anthony (Tony) Bentz, and Jayson Read. After interviews and discussion, the board unanimously approved Tony Bentz to fill the vacant seat. He will be seated to the board on March 31 after a mandatory waiting period.

Congratulations to senior Cloe Bladow! Cloe’s plans after high school include attending a technical school to become an electrician. Her favorite memories are attending football games with friends and her favorite teacher has been Ms. Schurmann. Cloe’s advice for younger students is to, “Work hard your first three years of high school in order to make senior year as easy as possible.”

Central parents have the opportunity to connect with Watertown Mayer Schools for an event called Let’s Talk on Parenting Today’s Teens! Chloe Knopik is today’s senior spotlight! Upon graduation, Chloe will be attending Gustavus Adolphus College and majoring in Music Education. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Rome. As being involved in many school musicals, she recalls a favorite memory of Mr. Stumbo eating chili five minutes before The Music Man performance. She encourages students to, “Talk to that person you’ve always been too scared to reach out to!”

Congratulations to our high school award winners for the month of February!

On Friday, the kindergarten classes participated in camping themed activities to go along with the end of our read-a-thon. Students started their morning with a special guest, Mr. Larson, who sang songs around a campfire. Then they went fishing for CVC fish and built tents using marshmallows and toothpicks. They had to count how many marshmallows and toothpicks they used for their design and later made a fort to read in. They had a blast!
