ready set thrive

Why Central?

We welcome you to the Central Public Schools community. Our Elementary School embraces approximately 400 students in grades K-5 from the communities of Hamburg, Norwood Young America, and Cologne. Located on the western edge of Carver County, we truly have the best of both worlds - all the opportunities of a metro district with a rural, hometown feel.

We can proudly say we have the smallest class sizes in the metro area while offering a challenging standards-based academic program that consistently scores above the state average.

Our small class sizes allow us to meet each student’s unique learning needs and develop powerful relationships that last a lifetime.

In addition, our many extracurricular activities include AAA, band, choir, Math Masters, and science fair, as well as a large variety of programs offered through community education.

We are grateful for strong community support of our November 2021 bond referendum and are on schedule to provide upgraded, renovated, world-class facilities for our students. Construction begins in the spring of this year with completion scheduled for summer 2024.

We invite you and your family to live, stay and grow as part of the Central family.  At Central Public Schools, your kindergartener-to-be will not only learn to love learning, but will learn to thrive!
