On November 11, 2021, Central Public Schoosl held a Veteran's Day program for the community.
Guests and students were greeted with the Prelude Music "American Venture" performed by the Central High School Band. Once Everyone was seated, the American Legion Post 343, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 343, Veterans of Foreign Wars #1783, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit #1783 posted Colors - Sgt, at Arms.
Upon the posting of colors, the "Star Spangled Banner" was performed by the High School Band. Contuining on the Preschool students from Kurious Kids, recited the pledge of Allegiance before Ron Kroells welcomed students, staff, community members and veterans. After Mr. Kroells brief welcoming, Elementary students in grades 1-5 sang "Proud of our vertrans".
Mr. Kroells then recognized 8th Grade students Aiden Hernandez, Alexis Johnson and Emma Krohn for their winning Patriot's Pen Essays. 1st place winner Aiden Hernandez they approached the podium where he read his winning essay to the audience.
Following the Patriot's Pen Essay reading, the CHS Choir and CHS Band has a spectacular performance of "America; The spirit lives on".
Beyond the Yellow Ribbion addressed the audience before Keynote speaker Brian Douty, Lt. Colonel of the National Guard took the floor. Following Mr. Douty the CHS Band played the "Armed Forces Medley" where Veterans stood when thier branch of service song was played.
Finally the attendees observed a moment of Silence before Senior Lexi Morrow played Taps to end the program. Upon the Colors being Retired, the Band played "Grand Old Flag/America the Beautiful as everyone exited the gym.
All Veterans and a guest were invited to a comlimentary lunch provided by Taher which consisted of; Roast Turkey and Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Broccoli Florets, Oranges, Dinner Roll with Butter, Apple Crisp Coffee and Milk Selection.
