May is National Mental Health Awareness month. Mental Health Day is a day for students to "take a break". This time of the year students have a lot going on , we want them to be able to have a day to take care of their mental health and not worry about school for a few hours.
We had two food trucks on site for students to purchase treats from (Elephant Joe's and Cookie Dough Bliss). Other activities for students to participate in include: Bingo, Bean Bags, Giant Jenga, other yard games, the GAGA pit, tables to Zentangle/Coloring, a gardening station, and a Zen garden station. We also have a few students bringing in animals!
Additionally, Central will have resource stations for the students to get information about mental health resources (NAMI, LIVIN foundation, SAVE, MACMH, Sexual Violence Center).
Mental Health Day is planned by PEERS, with the help of other student groups.

Now more than ever, we need to find ways to stay connected with our community. No one should feel alone or with out the information, support and help they need.
Mental Health Month raises awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities.
This national movement to raise awareness about mental health helps to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families.
